Job Purpose:
The Senior Buyer contributes to the organizational goals by assisting the Supply Chain Manager with the purchasing protocols for business requirements, by expediting all purchase orders, maintaining product buying prices, inventory and administration. The Buyer is responsible for maintaining product pricing through vendors, dealers and other contractors. Buyer is responsible for finding localized solutions to move away from importing, improving lead-times, quality and costs.
Job responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Lead end-to-end procurement for goods and services.
- Reviews and develops specifications for materials, supplies, ser-vices or equipment to be purchased.
- Identify, evaluate and onboard suppliers that meet quality, commercial and risk standards.
- Conduct RFQs/RFPs and negotiate competitive commercial terms.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations for key suppliers
Contracting & Commercial Risk Management
- Draft, review and maintain SLAs and supplier agreements
- Ensure supply agreements are based upon formal legal T&C’s
- Track contract renewals, penalty clauses, and deliverables.
- Escalate performance issues and mitigate commercial risk with operations.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks, Delegation of Authority and ethical procurement standards
- Maintain supplier documentation, approvals and procurement records for audit readiness.
- Uphold anti-corruption and fair vendor-selection practices.
- Minimise risk to continuity of supply by carrying out supplier risk assessments for the portfolio’s suppliers and implementing corrective actions as required.
Reporting & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Produce dashboards covering spend categories, supplier KPIs, savings and risk indicators.
- Work with suppliers and influence internal stakeholders to implement the innovation strategy, and to evolve the strategy as technology, markets and business needs change
- Continuously gather, analyse, interpret and act upon market intelligence.
Order Management
- Follows-up on orders previously placed, solving problems such as late delivery, variation from specifications, incorrect pricing, etc.

Qualification and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in either Supply Chain, Procurement, Fi-nance, Law or Commerce
- 3–5+ years procurement experience
- 2 years’ experience in the following:
- Contract Management.
- Commercial Tender practices.
- Strong experience in SLA and supplier agreement drafting and re-view
- Exposure to ERP procurement modules and contract management systems (advantageous)
